Tour features
Words cannot express the mystery and wonder of the Snæfellsnes peninsula! One can feel the amazing and almost surreal energy of this peninsula. The Snæfellsnes glacier is renowned for its mystical powers, which are second to none. The cone-shaped, ice covered strato-volcano Snæfellsjökull has captured the imagination of people all over the world, ever since Jules Verne wrote “The Journey to the Centre of the Earth” in 1871. In this famous novel, the imaginary journey begins in the dormant volcano and ends at the Stromboli volcano in Italy.
We will walk from Arnarstapi rock formations to Hotel Hellnar, known for their ecological emphasis. Lunch at Hellnar, after an exhilarating walk and later another short walk in Djúpalónssandur is on the agenda. Also visited is the new Settlement centre, highlighting how the Icelandic nation was formed and how it survived, on this deserted island in the North Atlantic Ocean.
